CBT Hartley – The First Step to Independent Riding
Published 17 October 2025
If you’re based in Hartley and ready to take your first step toward motorcycling freedom, LMRT’s CBT Hartley course is here to help. Compulsory Basic Training is required before you can ride on UK roads, and it’s designed to give you the skills and confidence to ride safely.
The course includes five structured parts. It begins with an eyesight check and introduction, then moves on to an explanation of the motorcycle’s controls. From there, you’ll practise in an off-road training space, building your skills in a safe environment.
Our road safety session follows, where you’ll learn about the Highway Code, hazard awareness, and defensive techniques. The final stage is a supervised on-road ride, where you’ll put your training into practice under the guidance of an instructor.
At the end of the course, you’ll be awarded a CBT Certificate valid for two years, giving you the freedom to ride legally with L plates.
With helmets, gloves, and jackets provided by LMRT, all you need is the right licence and suitable clothing.
