CBT Gravesend – Start Your Riding Journey with Confidence
Published 17 October 2025
If you’re in Gravesend and ready to begin your motorcycling journey, LMRT’s CBT Gravesend course is the first step. Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) is required by law before you can ride a moped or motorcycle on UK roads. It’s not an exam but a structured day of training that ensures you can ride safely and confidently.
The course is delivered in five stages. We begin with an eyesight check and introduction, followed by a clear explanation of the motorcycle’s controls. You’ll then move into our off-road training area to practise basic manoeuvres and build your confidence.
Next, our instructors cover road safety essentials such as the Highway Code, hazard awareness, and defensive riding. Finally, you’ll head out on the road for a supervised riding session, where you’ll put your new skills into practice in real traffic conditions.
On successful completion, you’ll receive your CBT Certificate (DL196), valid for two years. This allows you to ride legally with L plates and prepares you for further licence training should you wish to progress.
At LMRT, we provide helmets, gloves, and jackets—so you just need your licence and suitable clothing.
