All LMRT courses are delivered from our single, established training centre at the Army Reserve Centre, Napier House, 261 Baring Road, London SE12 0BH. Operating from one fixed location means every learner receives the same structured, high-quality experience from start to finish.

Blackheath is just a short distance from Grove Park, making the journey straightforward whether you are travelling by car, public transport, or on foot. What Happens on Your CBT Day?

Your Compulsory Basic Training is a full day of structured learning, divided into clear stages set out by the DVSA. Here is what you can expect.

You will begin with classroom-based learning, covering the basics of road safety, protective clothing, and how to approach riding responsibly. From there, you move on to the off-road training area, where you will get comfortable with your machine at a manageable pace before any on-road riding takes place.

Once your instructor is satisfied with your off-road progress, you will head out onto local roads for supervised riding. This final stage is where everything comes together, and our instructors will be with you throughout to offer guidance and build your confidence.

Successful completion of your CBT means you can ride a motorcycle or scooter up to 125cc on public roads with L-plates for up to two years.

What Comes After Your CBT?
